I believe touch is powerful. Touch can heal, calm, relax, and energize.
In college, I went through nursing school. I got all the way to the end (2 classes short) and decided to change my major. I always knew I wanted to care for people, help them to get better. I love the human body. I am amazed at our Creator at how He didn’t leave anything out! I went through a holistic program and loved every minute of it. When I was deciding not to finish, I was telling Gabe that I really thought that the Lord had given me the gift of touch and could totally see myself doing massage. I had this whole vision- that still might come true one day! We weren’t married then and he just laughed and thought I was cute. So I changed my major to sociology and got a minor in marketing. Marketing is what I wanted to pursue- it would have taken too long for a full degree in that!
So, fast forward many years and I am still feeling the pull of massage. At this point I am married and have one child. But we decide that it’s a great time to pursue it! And I have loved every minute since! It’s just like that sweet confirmation from the Lord that this is right. I know that this is what the Lord wants me to do.
I have a passion for wellness- both mentally and physically. I desire to help others live well. I love to help people physically release tension, muscular pain, and discomfort. There is a strong connection between mind and body as well. If your mind is stressed, your body will reflect that. So, I believe that our physical pains can be symptoms of other problems as well. So, as a massage therapist, I can only do so much. Healing takes time and effort. But with that healing sometimes comes the release from the weights we have placed on ourselves. And it’s a great feeling. So massage is much more than a one time event. I think in the stillness required, we can really hear our bodies and the Lord. I believe that is the beginning of wellness- listening to God and our bodies and looking for balance.
There are physical impairments too that cause pain and discomfort. I believe that massage is a powerful tool to remedy most- in conjunction with exercise and modern medicine. I am not a full out naturalist. But I do believe there is a time and place- a balance again.
Wellness is a lifestyle. It is a choice. It is a decision that goes beyond ourselves.
I love massage. I love helping people. And I would love to help you begin Living Well!
