Praise the Lord, it’s a new year! I love new beginnings. I love new life. I love the anticipation, the expectation, the lack of blemish. It’s just life-giving for me.
Surprisingly here in Georgia, we have been under a blanket of snow and ice for a week! With that comes the necessity of staying home. I have had my husband and kids around me, with no opportunity of going out for several days. And it’s been good. God has really been speaking to my heart through it. I have heard him calling out to me to simplify. Get rid of the fluff. This is what really matters. These people are my main responsibility. They are my joy. Am I doing it well? Am I living without regret in regards to them? Am I walking faithfully with the responsibilities He is giving me? (read more)
So, I feel a spring cleaning of the soul coming. I welcome it. Because in that cleaning out, it’s making room for new life, new joys, new things to come. I sense a season of preparation coming. It makes me nervous & want to cry, yet so excited at the same time. I have already been walking through some things with the Lord and He has really blessed those already. So, I say continue Lord. Bring light to the dirty places, empty me of excess. Give my heart contentment and joy in what you alone have for me. You are good and I can trust Your ways alone.
So, 2011- I am excited about you! I am excited about what you will bring in my life and the lives of those I love. I know God is going to show Himself in new ways. My desire is to live in a way that brings Him glory and I pray that God will be magnified through us this year.
Last week, I was spending some time thinking on what word the Lord had for me and my family this year. And almost without hesitation I heard Him say “joy”! And you know it brings tears to my eyes even now. Joy. It is the spring after a cold winter. It’s discovering the new life, the subtle changes that make all the difference. It is the spirit of His presence over us, filling us with Himself. It is the communion with Him. So, I claim it. Joy. I pray it over my household. I celebrate the hope it gives. I rest on it.

some days the weather is cooler. i am seeing leaves change to wonderful shades of red, orange and yellow. i feel a shiver of coolness each morning when I wake up. oh, i love the change of weather. and fall festivities are everywhere as well. the past two saturdays we have enjoyed lots of fun. i thought i would just share some pics. if living well is loving and enjoying those in my life- then i have really lived well the last 2 weekends!

redoing the playroom

sometimes, i get ideas in my head and i can’t rest until I get started on it. and our playroom was one of those things. it’s a crazy room to start with. first it’s full of random toys. but it’s also a tall room that’s narrow, so it makes fitting things in there a little crazy. plus it was just a blah beige that it has been since we moved in. so i couldn’t wait to paint it.

but what color do you paint a playroom? part of you wants to paint it something playful, bright and cheerful. but then you know lots of stuff will be happening in there, lots of crazy toys- so i don’t want it to be overstimulating. so, i went with something more soothing. i found this great color that i have liked for a while. and the name of it’s Hazel- which was my Nana’s name, so that was even better!

i saw in Land of Nod a while back a playroom with paper circle chains hanging from the ceiling and i have loved the idea. so i went to Joann’s and found some super cute card stock in great patterns & colors- half-priced I might add! and i set to making some paper chains myself! it was super fast!

i had a lot of paper pieces left over so i decided to make the alphabet out of the remainder and hang on the wall! it’s a great use of color and fun! and the kids love it!

here are pics of the finished product! i am happy with it and my mind can rest a little while until i’m off to the next project!

Great Dog for adoption!

If you are looking for a great family pet- this girl is the one!

About 3 weeks ago she showed up at my door and stayed! She’s amazing! I really love her. And I would totally keep her, but I have 3 little kids and 2 dogs and my hubby says no. Not sure why, but he seems to think I have enough on my plate!

Since I kept her, I have put out signs and had her scanned for a chip- but no owner has been found. I knew she needed to be fixed and she would need shots- but that would take $400- $500 if I were to do it. So I spoke with this sweet lady that does adoptions and she paid for it all. So whoever wants this great dog, just has to adopt through her and the adoption fee is only $150.

And believe me- you’ll want her if you ever meet her! She is such a love. She loves people, kids, other dogs- pretty much anything that will give her love and attention! She’s really great!

Let me know if you are interested or know someone else who might be. I will be taking her to Petco in Snellville for adoption on Saturday otherwise- so let me know soon!!! There’s nothing like the unconditional love from a sweet pup!

I feel terrible. It’s kinda like working out for me! If I am in the routine of doing something, boy I keep with it. But once I break it, even for a short time, it is the hardest thing ever for me to start back! And that’s been the same with blogging for me.

But, lucky for you- I am back. I am going to make effort to get my thoughts down- if not for anyone but myself!

So, here’s my official apology. I don’t feel guilt over it- which is good! I am learning a lot about living in freedom. There will be lots of posts regarding this coming soon. If I am going to speak my heart- freedom is what you will hear about. It is the melody that God is singing to me in loud, beautiful songs. And I am dancing to it! Freedom. Hmmm….. just sounds good. Okay. I’ll write more on that soon!
