as a woman, i think it’s just in me to worry. i think, plan, come up with possible scenarios for everything. it can be so consuming. i know it’s fruitless. but it’s a hard thing not to do. and i think it all started really when i became a mom. those kids mean more to me than anything in this entire world and they are my responsibility! so you can see why the worry comes.
this morning i was reading in Philippians 4. Verse 4 is pretty well known, but it really struck me. My ESV version says, ” The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God.” Don’t you love that Paul starts it off with irrefutable reasoning? Seriously, why worry- the Lord is near! And because He’s near, why not just tell Him what you are thinking, ask Him to handle it better than you ever could and trust His goodness & love for you.
What does that at hand mean to you? It reminds me of a tool. You can make things happen without tools- like taking off a light switch cover. It’s totally possible to take that thing off using a butter knife to remove those screws. But if you just go ahead and get a screwdriver, it’s so much easier. And even better than that- it says He is at hand. So you don’t have to spend time walking around looking for that right tool- He’s right there. Just pick Him up! So simple!
Are you using the power given to you today? Are you resting in Him? What are you worrying about that you need to release? He’s there. The Lord is at hand! Praise God!
